Dr. Hemant K Singh has been involved in some pioneering work in herbal drug research in India. He has served as Scientist at the Govt. of India premier drug research center, Central Drug Research Institute (C.D.R.I.) for last 30 years.

His research career started with basic and applied research on structure-activity-relationship of synthetic compounds and in the process established neuroleptic and anti-depressant profiles of action of two of the CDRI compounds which have been industrially licensed.

He later dedicated his energies to natural products research and worked in close collaboration with an outstanding pharmacologist Dr. B N. Dhawan. He identified the memory enhancing properties of the well-known Ayurvedic plant Brahmi, which also has been industrially licensed. Dr. Singh was one of the coordinating scientists of the Department of Ocean Development sponsored National Project on Development of Potential Drugs from Marine Flora and Fauna.

Dr. Singh has traveled internationally as Visiting Scientist and to attend International Conferences. He was invited by the Royal Government of Bhutan twice and framed a National Research plan on Commercial Development of Medicinal Plants in Bhutan, which is being funded by European Commission, Brussels.

Dr. Singh has over 60 research publications in national and International journals and over a dozen national and International patents to his credit.
