Dr. C. I. Jolly has been a jolly good Pharmacognosy Teacher for the last 35 years! Professor Jolly served as Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry at the Principal K.M. Kundnani College of Pharmacy, Bombay for over two decades before joining Amla Cancer Research Center & Hospital, Thrissur. He has guided post-graduate work in Pharmacognosy leading to over 50 Masters or PhD degrees so far and has presented over 90 papers at national and international conferences held over the years.

Dr Jolly has been a member of the American Society of Pharmacognosy and Central Council of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association. He offers his services as a referee to the Indian Herbal Pharmacopoeia, the Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the A.O.A.C., U.S.A., and to the Department of Science and Technology projects.

Dr. Jolly's research emphasis was the Isolation and Characterization of Phytochemicals. His group's research projects included Cytological, Anti-Mitotic and Phytochemical Investigations on Indian Medicinal Plants; Formulation of Herbal Shampoos using only natural ingredients; Studies on Herbal Shampoos using Scanning Electron Microscopy; Analgesic activity of Ocimum and Ixora species.
